This page has a collection of links to websites with good quality images, information and videos that could be useful in the classroom. The links on this page were all checked on the 23/08/2014.
Tectonic plates / Earth's structure
Below is a link to a downloadable PDF world map of tectonic plates, volcanoes and earthquakes with a brief world history and facts:http://pubs.usgs.gov/imap/2800/.
Below is a video that explains summarises tectonics, including the Earth's structure, the movement of tectonic plates, the creation and basic effects of mountains, volcanoes and earthquakes. This would be an ideal recap or introduction to the topic.

Earthquakes
Below is a link to a list of the worst earthquakes in history with maps and impact details. This can be used for a better idea of what earthquakes have happened before to help students realise how earthquakes today compare: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/world/historical_mag.php.
Below is a link to the USGS 'learn' section on earthquakes with games, diagrams, and a photo glossary: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/learn/?source=sitenav.

Volcanoes
Below is a link to the USGS page with a good quality diagram that labels all of a volcanoes features and leads to pages with descriptions and photographs of them. This website is self explanatory and could easily be navigated and understood by students in an ICT session or for homework : http://volcanoes.usgs.gov/hazards/index.php.
Below is a link to a photo glossary on volcanoes to help student visualise what they look like: http://volcanoes.usgs.gov/images/pglossary/index.php.
Below are two links to PDF pamphlets made by the International Volcanic Health Hazard Network (IVHHN) to advise the public on dealing with ash fall. Students could evaluate how successful they think the pamphlets are and decide how they could be improved. The students could then make their own leaflets or posters about how to deal with the risks of an eruption.
