Globalisation: Inter-related topics
It is easy for students to forget or be unaware how areas of geography are heavily inter-connected. Globalisation is closely linked with development, climate change, agriculture, population and tourism.
Globalisation and development
Globalisation and development have the most obvious topic link. Development is what has led to the phenomenon known as globalisation. Without increased transport links and technological advances the world would not be as interconnected as it is now. This connection can be anything from exploring cultures around the world on a holiday to sharing world resources through improved trade routes.

Globalisation and climate change
A large part of globalisation is trade and the rapid increase of imports and exports worldwide. All these new and more frequent trade routes are having a significant increase on the amount of global pollution. This has been recognised and there are efforts to try and combat this problem worldwide. The issue of climate change is on-going and therefore important to study, especially as it will change the world for future generations.

Globalisation, agriculture and population
The option of importing or exporting food from around the world has led to an increase in demand from MEDCs from the LEDCs that grow most of the food. People in richer countries are now accustomed to having the best quality food at any time of year. Richer countries therefore import a lot of food from poorer countries who can produce those foods. However, the problem comes when countries with high agricultural industries cant keep up with the demands from exporting and still have enough to feed their country as-well. The increasing world population is also contributing to this problem.

Globalisation and tourism
Increased modes of transport, the increased frequency of transport and the falling travel costs are increasing the opportunities for more people to visit different places around the world. As travel is more accessible and affordable it is easier for more cultures around the world to be shared by tourism.
